Hi there, my name is Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation, here today to talk to you about how sit means sit. What does that mean? Well, there’s a training school for animals up in the St. Charles area that I’m in front on the fence that just, it reads big letters, “Sit means sit.” Whenever I read that the first time, I nearly drove off the road laughing so hard. Because you’d think that the animals will understand that, but even we don’t get that. We don’t take people out at their word. The animal doesn’t take us at our word.

You know what, we don’t take God at His word. And yet, the most basic, simple understanding from a trainer is that whenever I say sit, you sit. The animal begins to figure that out. And we need to understand from God whenever He says it, that’s the way it is. For example, one of the great verses in the Bible Ephesians chapter 2, verse 8, where it tells us that you and I have been saved. Not by our works, not by how good we are, not by how much we’ve earned or how many good deeds we’ve accumulated. We’re saved by grace. And that is the free gift from God. That is the way it is. Whether we accept it, struggle with it, fall over it or not. We’ve been loved that much, to have the unmerited favor. To have eternity handed to us if we want. Do you want it or not? Sit means sit, and He means yes.
