Hi there. My name is Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation here to talk to you about spiritual growth today and the lifeline from God. Tara and I recently came back from California at a trip to Napa Valley. We had an opportunity to be on the Golden Gate Bridge. As you walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, there’s actually a crisis hotline right there, a telephone on the bridge that a person can pick up, and there’s a direct line straight to a crisis counselor. Tara was fascinated by that, took pictures of it.

It gets you thinking about stuff. The Golden Gate Bridge opened in 1937, and since then, there’s been over 1,500 people that have jumped to their death off of that bridge. It is the second leading bridge of suicides in the world. Yet, here we are talking about this society and the people of San Francisco are going, “Wait, you know what? If there’s every any doubt, let’s put a telephone right there where they are going to jump.” Giving people one last chance.

1 Corinthians chapter 10, verse 13. It gives us the promise that we’re never going to be hit with more in our life than what we can deal with, that God is always going to offer and have that crisis hotline, that offer of help for us in our life. We don’t have to jump. Do not let the self judgment in our life hold us back from accepting the help and the will and the love of God.
