Hi there. My name is Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation. Here today to talk about a situation that I experienced years ago. We’re actually going to talk about this for several weeks coming up because there’s so many different things to learn from it.

What happened was a lady I knew that was very good at what she did but she wasn’t so smart business wise. She got herself into some situations in business that proved to not only be not helpful and not lucrative but actually she wound up losing. She lost everything. It was one of those situations where she went from being on top of the world to finding out that she had been scammed, that she had been stolen from on more than one occasion, and put herself right back in the same situations again and again.

Now, we’re going to talk about this again over and over over the next few weeks, but the thing I want to talk about today is about asking us about evaluation. In other words, she was in a situation that she could have stopped, pulled back, and evaluated. She could have realized that she had put herself in the same situation again. She could have went and gotten other opinions and asked them for help or what did they think or what’s your view of this. She didn’t do any of that until she was in way too deep and way in over her head.

I want to encourage us today in our own personal growth. It is very important to get outside influence. People you know. People you trust. What are their evaluations? Are you making the same mistake again that you can work on and change and get better at? If somebody’s honestly looking at you going, hey you know what I don’t think this is going to work, it’s okay. Don’t let shame and guilt and fear hold us captive where we don’t share where we’re at with other people. Don’t let fear of judgment help us become victims.
