Hello, my name is Jeff Arthur, from The Values Conversation, today talking about refocusing. Let me ask you a question. How are those New Year resolutions going? That’s what I thought. Of course. They sounded good, good ideas, not so good at execution, it’s not really what I wanted it to be. We all fall into this trap. We’ve talked about it in other podcasts, where we talked about how we can make mistakes and we hit a brick wall when we feel like we’re trying to do something different. I don’t know where I’m going and I’m afraid I’m going to make mistakes and perfectionism and all this stuff that can jump up and cause problems.

What I want to day to remind you, is that one of the great opportunities through emotional intelligence is the opportunity and the strength and the ability to refocus. I had these great plans, but I lost track of where I was going. Fine, refocus. I had all these goals set. I had all these things I was going to do, I thought I could get where. Great, refocus. I had all this ideas. What happened? Well, I realized I had all these perfectionistic ideas, and that didn’t work for me. Great, refocus. It’s okay to come back to the drawing board and say, “I want to try this again.” Refocus. You’re worth it.
