Hi there, my name is Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation talking about personal growth and rights that we have versus the responsibilities. I’m sure that you hear the same thing in our society that I hear, that we all have different rights. I have the right to do this. I have the right to do that. I have the right to say what I want to say. I have the right to go where I want to go. I have the right to protest. I have the right to shut down. I have the right to close the door. I have the right to march. I have the right to be here. I have the right to go home. I have all these rights to do all these things. I have the right to take a knee whenever they sing the national anthem.

Yes, but above and beyond what I have the right to do, I have the responsibilities to be more. I may have the right to do whatever, but as a human being that is engaged in personal growth, depending on what I value, I don’t just have the right, I have the responsibility to be more than just the baseline person who says I want to stand on my rights. Stand on your values. Stand on what your responsibilities are to society. What your responsibilities are to your company. What your responsibilities are to your family. What your responsibilities are to your maker and creator. What your responsibilities to you. Not it’s what I have the right to do, it’s what I have the responsibility to be more about.
