Hello everybody, my name is Jeff Arthur, with The Values Conversation, here to talk about shutting up and listening.
I got news for you as a leader. This may come difficult for you to hear and understand but you’re not as smart as you think you are. Sorry to tell you. It’s important to understand that you don’t have all the answers. We don’t have all the answers. I don’t have all the answers, and you can ask my team. They will tell you that I’m not as smart as what I think I am. You’re not either. It’s important to ask for help. It’s important to connect with people that you need to connect with. It’s important to understand that whether it’s a peer of yours, whether it is another business owner, whether it’s another leader in what you do, maybe it’s a business coach or personal coach, somebody somewhere can mentor, support, teach and help you.
But, the thing is is that we’re not as smart as what we think we are. We want to be, but we’re not. Other people are very skilled and very smart in what they do. Use their education. Use their knowledge. Use their wisdom. Learn from them. It’s okay to do that. Because, if you stand on your own and you become an island off to yourself, you’re going to limit yourself with what you can do.
