Hi there. My name is Jeff Arthur with the Values Conversation, here talking about how people are looking for connection. As a leader, a lot of times, we just take for granted or we assume we understand what’s going on in the lives of the people that are working with us or working for us. The truth of the matter is that a lot of times, we don’t. The people who work for us and our company, they are looking for connection.
Do you, the leader, do you understand what their job is and what it entails for them to do it? Do you have any idea what they have to do to get to work where they can do the job? How many buses are they catching? How many car trouble problems do they have? How many kids do they have to drop off at school to get there? On and on and on, do you understand what all the hoops they had to jump through to get there? Do they understand that you care about their life outside of the business, or are they just a number? Are they just a warm body? Are they just somebody to fill the spot to do the thing and you’re not really concerned about?
Because the thing is, is that until you, the leader, connect with your people, and until your people realize that you actually care, and they have that connection with you, you’re never going to get the most out of their productivity, out of their focus, out of their talent, out of their opportunity, because what’s the point? You don’t care about them. Why should they care about yoU? I’m Jeff Arthur with the Values Conversation. Be connected with your people. You can find out more about us online at TVCLeadership.com.
