Hi, there. My name is Jeff Arthur with the values conversation. Here today to talk about understanding and setting the vision of your company.

It’s always amazing to me whenever I go into and start talking and working with different organizations or companies or non-for-profits. The first thing that people want to jump into is always confusing. Everybody has an idea. Yet, the most important thing to start with and jump into is the vision of your company. Do you know what the vision of your company is? I’m not talking about a mission statement. I’m not talking about a wall of multiple paragraphs. I’m talking about something that can be printed on a t-shirt. This is the vision. This is the purpose for our company. This is what we’re doing.

The reason that’s so important is that if I understand what my vision is, which is the what we’re doing, and I understand the mission, which is how we’re doing it. If I understand the values that we’re standing on to accomplish the vision and mission, then everything becomes so much easier and simpler in the decisions that we’re making. Do we want to do this? Do we want to do that? I don’t know. Which is the thing that’s going to help us accomplish our vision? Which is the thing that’s going to help us to stand on our values even more? Can you rally your people to the vision of your company?
