Hi there. I’m Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation with some shocking news for several people who are watching or listening today. Are you ready? 3, 2, 1. You’re really not as important as you think you are. That’s kind of scary, I know, but what can happen with leaders is that we think we’ve arrived, and all of a sudden, we can fall into a pattern of thinking that we’re all that and a bag of chips. The truth of the matter is that that’s not the way it works. A true, great, effective leader is going to be one that is approachable for his people or her people or their people can come to them and talk to them and ask questions, make mistakes, look for support, understand. As a leader, we have the responsibility to love and support and show understanding while firm and while showing the direction and while giving leadership to our people, but if we come across as above it all, if we come across as unapproachable, if we come across as someone who is above it all and really can’t be bothered with that, we’re hurting ourself, we’re hurting our industry, we’re hurting our company, we’re hurting our people that we say we want to make a difference for.

My name is Jeff Arthur. You can find out more about us on LinkedIn by searching for me, Jeff Arthur, A-R-T-H-U-R. Have a great day.
