Hi there, my name is Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation. I want to talk to us today about intentional, on-purpose growth.
One of the great phrases that I heard years ago that’s applicable in so many areas of our life is that, “The things in life that are easy to do, are the things that are easy not to do.” That’s why we don’t do them. It’s easy to schedule ourselves in the morning of where we’re doing a workout or we’re taking the personal time or we’re doing whatever. But it’s also easy to hit the snooze button four more times. Things in life that are easy to do are easy not to do. And when it comes to our own personal growth, things in life that are easy to do, setting out an intentional plan of growth, here’s what I want to do to continue to train or to continue to develop or continue to grow, or continue to learn, in whatever area of my life. Personal or professional or in fitness or in nutrition, or in spiritual levels of my life. Or to grow in marriage, or to grow in parenting. Whatever those areas of my life are. It’s not going to happen unless I, on purpose, put a plan together. And then, on purpose, engage.
Because it’s very easy to think that I’ll get to it later on. Or it’s very easy to think that I’m too busy right now, or my plate’s too full right now, or I’ve got too much going on right now. Or I’ve got whatever. And as soon as this lets up or as soon as this backs off or as soon as this project’s finished, then I’ll have all the time to do the other thing, and it never happens. Just a reminder. Make sure we make time for us. Make sure you make time for you. And on purpose, grow to be that which you are wanting to be.
