Hi there, my name is Jeff Arthur with the Values Conversation, here to talk to you today and ask one simple question: What do you want? Let me ask a different way, what do you want? Let me ask you a different way, what do you want? Not as a husband or father, not as a wife or a mother, not as a sister or a brother, what do you want in your life? What do you want?
Do you want to be living where you’re living? Do you want to be doing the job that you’re doing? Do you want to be involved in what you’re doing? Have you given up your dreams? Do you have a clue what that bucket list looks like? Did you ever see the George Clooney movie that was shot here in Saint Louis, “Up In the Air”? There’s a point in time in the movie where he’s talking to a guy that they’re firing and he asked him the question, “What did they pay you to first give up on your dreams?” I believe the actor’s name is J.K. Simmons. Of course he’s upset, “What are you talking about?” He’s going, “Well, I see on your biography that you’re a chef. You went to culinary school. What’d they pay you?” “$27,000 to give up on my dream.”
What do you want and do you realize what the steps need to be that need to be taken to get to what you want to do? Have you ever asked yourself? Do you even allow yourself to go there? It’s okay. What do you want? Because until you know the answer to that question, no game plan will ever get you there.
