Hi there, I’m Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation. Here to talk to you about looking at things through the perspective of fresh eyes. I don’t know if you’ve ever been around a 2-year-old. I suspect most of you, if not all of you listening to this, have been around a 2-year-old, and that incredible, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, why, where you just want to plug your ears or put him in another room, or send him to Grandma’s, or something.

That is so important as a leader, to be able to step back away from what the routine is, to step back away from what the sacred cow is, and ask the fresh question, “Why are we doing it like this? When did we start doing it? Do we need to readjust this? Is this something we need to talk about, not even doing it all anymore? Why is this here? Why are we doing it like this? Is there a better way to do it now?”

We talk about all these different changes and business, and all these different ways of changing to do things, and how this has changed, and how that has changed, and that’s exactly right. A lot of times we need to step back and look at our own backyard of our company and ask, “Why are we doing it like this? Is there a better direction, a better way, a better solution, a better alternative? Is there a now a better way to get there faster, and less expensive, more opportunistic? Why am I doing it like that?” My name is Jeff Arthur from The Values Conversation. You can find out more about us on Facebook, at facebook.com/thevaluesconversation.
