Hi there. My name is Jeff Arthur, with The Values Conversation. I don’t want to get political, I don’t want to get into sides of who’s right and who’s wrong, but I do want to step back, and hopefully, have you think a little bit today.

In our society today, more than ever before, people are screaming at all different aspects about their rights. I have the right for this, I have the right for that, I have the right for whatever, you don’t have the right to this, you can’t tell me what to do, you can’t tell me what to say, you can’t tell me whatever else, these people are being mean to us, these people are being whatever to us, we’ve got rights too, we’re being scorched, we’re not being heard, on and on and on about my rights. You know what? We do have rights. We live in a country where we are given those rights at birth.

I want to encourage you today to understand, not only do we have rights, but more than that, we have responsibilities. More important than our rights, is the responsibility to conduct ourselves as human beings, in a way that is not only respectful to everybody else, but understand that, sometimes, we may not be right. We have a responsibility to conduct ourselves in a way that is honorable, supportive, and loving. Not just rights, but our responsibilities.
