My name is Jeff Arthur with the Values conversation. In Mark chapter 14:44, we’re told about something that is remarkable. In fact, it’s not only in Mark. It’s in Mathew, Luke and John. It’s 1 of those things that were in every 1 of the 4 Gospels. Jesus was betrayed. Not just betrayed but he was betrayed by 1 of his best friends. He hand picked 12 men and out of that 12, 1 person turned against him.
There is all kinds of theological debate about whether he was being controlled by the spiritual enemy or whether he thought there was something else that should have been going on while he was trying to push Jesus into acting more. Whatever it was, he betrayed Jesus and it was so incredible to the other disciples who didn’t see it coming. It’s an all 4 Gospel so that all 4 writers made sure the readers understood Jesus stood here, Judas stood against him.
The reason that’s so important is because everyone of us that are watching this and understand, we’ve all been betrayed by people whether they meant good or not and yet we still have that incredible support, that incredible example of Jesus Christ who took it. When we are betrayed, do what Jesus did, go the Father and recognize that he’s still there with us. My name is Jeff Arthur with the Values conversation.
