Hi there my name is Jeff Arthur with the Values Conversation talking today about personal growth and how not being comfortable is a good thing. It’s amazing how in our society, and I am just as guilty or more so than anybody else, everything is geared toward my comfortability. Do I feel good? Do I feel comfortable? Do I feel okay or not? Whether that’s the temperature of the room or whether it’s the attitude of other of people or whether it’s the way people are talking or thinking or whatever around me. Am I comfortable? Do I feel okay about this? Is it a feel good or whatever? If I’m not offended, if I’m not whatever.

The truth of the matter is this, if I want to become more, if I want to grow in my life, growth by it’s very definition means that I’m going to go somewhere I’ve never been before. That means I’m going to be scared. That means I don’t what this looks like. I don’t know what this feels like. I don’t know what it takes to get beyond this. I don’t know what’s going to happen here. Those are all uncomfortable feelings and it’s okay.

If I want to talk about personally growing, if I want to talk about becoming more in my life, more by definition, growth by definition is something that I’m not at right now. If something different that what I have right now. If I’m growing and developing that means it’s going to be scary, uncomfortable, something new, I may fail at it, it’s okay because I’m growing.
