Hi there. My name is Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation, here to talk to you about spiritual growth and about the Gospel of Luke. Now, last week, we talked about some basic Bible tips. I thought, “You know what? Let’s use an example.” The Gospel of Luke is a great place to start. That gospel was written by one man, who was a doctor. He was a physician. He wrote this to a non-Jewish man named Theophilus. His letter, the Gospel of Luke, is going to be totally different than Matthew, or Mark, or John, because those were written by people who were Jewish. Luke was not. He was a physician, so he had a slant different than anything else.

Curiously enough, if it wasn’t for Luke, there are several things we wouldn’t even know about, for example, it’s Christmastime, end of the year. We just celebrated Christmas. If it wasn’t for Luke, we would never know the story about the birth of Jesus from Mary’s side. Now, Matthew gives us Joseph’s side and what happened whenever when he was told by the angels of what was going to happen, but it’s Luke that tells us about Bethlehem. It’s Luke that tells us about that incredible journey back to Bethlehem, and being born in a manger, and the whole thing, and the shepherds coming. That’s all from a non-Jewish person writing to tell somebody, who was not from Israel, who this Jesus was. The Gospel of Luke, kind of fun. My name is Jeff Arthur with The Values Conversation.
