Hi there, my name is Jeff Arthur with the Values Conversation. I suspect that you’re like me. You can remember the mistakes the screw-ups that you have made, years and years and years ago. It’s hard to remember all the things that we did right. Hard to remember all the things that we did that made a difference in a positive way, but man oh man we can give a list of all the things we did that was wrong. There’s a reason for that, because on a spiritual level, this is all part of the war.

In Matthew, chapter 13, Jesus gives a parable that was revolutionary. It was the parable of the sower. Talking about, going out and sowing the seed of a different soils that the seeds fell on. What is interesting is that one of the soils he talks about is the [inaudible 00:00:45] soil. The path, like it’s beaten down, and the soil just pushes the seed back. He talks about how the birds come and take this seed and then he told the disciples, “Well, the birds are Satan, the spiritual enemy that come and take thoughts out of our heart, take thoughts out of our mind.” the reason that if he can take stuff out of mind, he can put stuff into our minds. Our spiritual enemy reminds us of all the mistakes that we make, to tear us down, to push us down, and we forget, “Oh yes, I’m loved by the omnipotent, sovereign, God of the universe, who cares about me.”
