My name is Jeff Arthur, with the Values Conversation, here today to talk to you about building relationships and understanding what that means for your company.

My fiancee, Tara, and I just came back from a trip to Napa Valley, and we love it. It was a great time. We had opportunities to go to just a plethora of wineries. There were large wineries, there were small private wineries, there were private wineries that you cannot get into unless you know somebody who knows somebody that can make sure that you’re invited to open the gate so you can make it into the winery. It was just this incredible smorgasbord of wineries that we went to, and we were talking about afterwards about the places that we liked, the places that we didn’t like, the stuff going on. What I realized was something fascinating. It didn’t matter about the wines. It didn’t matter about the incredible wineries that we saw, and the caves, and the stuff underground, and how they stored all the stuff. What mattered about whether it was a good experience or not was the relationship that was built between us and the host from the winery.

Whenever they connected with us, we had a great time, and we bought a ton of wine, but whenever they were jerks we couldn’t wait to get away quick enough, no matter how much we loved the wine, no matter how much we enjoyed the winery. Build relationships with your people. That’s what counts and matters most. My name is Jeff Arthur, with the Values Conversation, and you can find out more about us on Facebook, at facebook.com/thevaluesconversation.
